Martinsville may have made NASCAR history Sunday night with it’s controversial points finish. What did Eric Estepp think about it in this week’s Groovy Gauge Presented by Lectric eBikes?

Groovy Gauge Score: 85%

For his review, Eric is completely sidelining the last-lap drama of the race. This means that the Groovy Gauge will discuss only laps 1 through 499.
While the drama was shocking and newsworthy, it did distract from what was an interesting race at a short track that desperately needed it. For a full review of all the drama, however, Eric, of course, highlighted it in his full video on the Out of The Groove YouTube Channel.
Eric thought that this race had a lot going on prior to the last lap, be that Elliott’s strategy or the many dynamics going on throughout the race to accommodate tire wear and playoff points.
This race earned an 85%, perhaps giving hope to NASCAR and Goodyear’s continued tire development. This beats out the Hendrick Motorsports-dominated spring race, which Eric awarded a 45%.
As Eric said at the end, this race was history in front of our eyes. Whatever NASCAR does to address this situation will affect the future of the sport, its playoffs, and its fans.
