What’s Happening?

With the recent news that the CW was going to start showing NASCAR Xfinity Series races early, there are a lot of fans freaking out online, thinking that they will not be able to view the conclusion of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. As reported earlier in the week, The CW will show the final 8 races of the 2024 Xfinity Series Season before taking over for the full run of the series starting in 2025.

So, how exactly do you tune into the CW? Do you need any special subscription services? Do you need to call and get a more elaborate cable package? Do you need to download (and pay for) any fancy apps? Nope, nope, and nope!

Let’s break down how you can tune into the CW later this year to watch the entirety of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, shall we?

How To Watch on Antenna

What many fans don’t know is that the CW is a national broadcasting station, meaning that you do not need streaming or any of the apps to enjoy it. If your television is rigged up to watch your local listings via an antenna, you can watch the CW. Granted, it’s often not listed as the CW on your TV guide of channel header, as it is broadcast over a local channel. For example, my local news channel broadcasts on channel 5 (which also broadcasts NBC programs) is called WCYB. It is the same with whichever one of your local stations is collaborating with the CW.

In my neck of the woods, the CW is an offshoot of WCYB and is shown on the antenna channel 5.2. It may take some channel surfing to completely figure it out but you should be able to receive the channel without problem over the antenna in your local listings.

If you go to www.cwtv.com/stations, you can type in your zip code and it will show you where you can find the CW in your neck of the woods. For example, I typed in my zip code, and these were the results. Over the air (or antenna) the CW is on channel 5.2. It also lists where I can find it for the various service providers, including Hulu and YouTube TV. You can access the website by clicking the screenshot below.

How To Watch on Cable/YouTube and/or Hulu Live TV

Most cable providers carry the CW. Typically, it is listed on your TV guide down in the local listings portion, around where you go to tune into your local news. In my neck of the woods with Spectrum, it’s channel 4, one below NBC/WCYB. It is different based on where you live, unfortunately, so there is no hard and fast rule to this one. But, if you have cable, you should be able to watch it.

Just check the local listings part of your guide and it should be there. Again, keep in mind that it may appear under the local affiliate’s name, not specifically the CW. But they’re one and the same.

The same goes for YouTube TV and/or Hulu Live TV. The most basic versions of these streaming apps carry the CW. You just need to check your local guide near the local listings and you’ll find it!

How To Stream on the CW App

For those who have foregone cable TV altogether and don’t have access to an antenna you, too can watch the final 8 races of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season. This is thanks to the CW App.

The app is free to download and is available in most app stores. The best part about it is that no subscription is required nor do you have to enter your credit card information. Just go to your app store

For Android users, it’s HERE on Google Play, and for Apple iPhones, it’s HERE on the App Store. From there, you can download it and enjoy it immediately! No strings attached, no ifs, ands, or buts!

The Misconception

A common misconception when this news broke was that the NASCAR Xfinity Series was getting buried deeper in the weeds with a premium cable channel. That’s not the case, thankfully. Instead, the switch to the CW should open up availability as to who can watch.

For the first time in a long time, in 2025, anyone who wants to watch a NASCAR Xfinity race can with any one of the viewing options listed above. The move to the CW increases access because it’s typically shown over local channels in collaboration with your local television stations.

Unfortunately, unless you’re one of the people who watched Supernatural and/or The Vampire Diaries as it aired, you may not have even known what the CW was. We here at The Daily Downforce hope that this guide helps and we look forward to the CW taking over the NXS in 2025.
