What’s Happening?

This weekend is the NFL Draft, so, we asked the fans who they would pick in a NASCAR Driver Draft, with only one driver per team eligible. They did not disappoint, and these are some of the best picks.

  • Fans took different strategies with this draft. Some took this as an opportunity to build their “Dream team”, while others limited their choices through extra rules.
  • A NASCAR Driver Draft would never happen, but, that doesn’t make this any less fun. What if things changed, and a Draft did happen?
  • Fans took this idea and ran with it. Some of the most interesting responses will be included in this list.

In the Stands

TWaskiewicz got creative with his picks, splitting the points standings into four distinct groups. He picked one driver from positions 1-8, a second from 9-16, a third from 17-24, and the fourth from 25-last. This gives him a diverse team of proven veterans, a journeyman, and a young driver.

Ninokabi picked three established drivers, but, the final driver was a rookie. It appears he’s trying to build a little bit for the future while also having three drivers to compete for Championships right now. Three of these drivers have made Championship 4s in the last 3 seasons.

Scosh24 employed a similar strategy to ninokabi. However, Scosh24 elected to pick Tyler Reddick and Ty Gibbs. Gibbs is likely the best young driver in the Cup Series currently, and he is quickly proving himself, and Reddick is the anchor driver of an up-and-coming team.

Kenda Ransom decided to go for veterans with their draft picks. Drivers like Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, and Kyle Busch each have incredible pedigrees, but, are their best days behind them? Kyle Larson is in his prime, however.

Greg Heffley was all about the vibes with his race team. From dog lover Alex Bowman to Michael Jordan ambassador Bubba Wallace to Star Wars nerd Ryan Blaney to podcaster Corey LaJoie. This would be a fun race shop to be in.

Epiccw.net went with an unorthodox pick. While Kyle Larson, Ty Gibbs, and Ross Chastain make a lot of sense, SVG is quite the high-risk/high-reward pick. He’s a winner with prowess on road courses, but, is he consistent enough on oval tracks?

Through The Esses has a contingency plan should one of his top drivers retire. He has Bubba Wallace waiting in the wings when Denny Hamlin retires, an appropriate replacement given Hamlin is Wallace’s current boss.

Noah Riley Teal explained why he picked these four. He likes how each of these drivers appeals to sponsors along with the on-track prowess.

Caleb went with two interesting choices with his draft picks. Aside from Supercars star Shane Van Gisbergen, 2011 Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne is included. Bayne currently doesn’t have a ride in NASCAR for 2024.

Jordan Powell included 3 youngsters alongside William Byron on his draft list. With Chandler Smith, Christian Eckes, and Jesse Love, this team is quite set for the future. However, including Eckes over Corey Heim is certain to raise some eyebrows.

Who would you select for the theoretical NASCAR draft? Let us know with the below tweet.
