One of the goals of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race was to reach a brand new audience, and a sports YouTube channel that never talks about NASCAR went to and vlogged that race in Chicago. Jomboy and Jake TV vlogged their experience at the NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
Jomboy Media is one of the most popular baseball YouTube channels. Their main channel boasts 1.78 million subscribers. The channel this video was posted on was their second channel, Jomboy & Jake TV, which typically is where they post content like vlogs, gaming content, and even podcasts sometimes. Some of Jomboy’s most popular content are lip reads and breakdowns of baseball games.
Now, there is not a lot of commentary in this video. It is mainly just a group of fans gawking at NASCAR on the city streets of Chicago, but, that is not a bad thing by any stretch. Jomboy is primarily a group that discusses baseball with nary a thing about NASCAR.
Even though this video was on a secondary channel, it was some good positive publicity towards NASCAR and introducing NASCAR to a brand new audience. That was the exact goal of the race in Chicago to begin with, and this video helped expand that reach.
The video was also very positive towards the race, which was interesting. As an attendee of the event, I could see why someone attending their first race may go there and leave with a mixed taste in their mouth because of the weather. There was not a single mention about the weather delays in the video at all, which is great.
Anyone who did not previously know about the sport would not have known about the specifics of the event. It’s just some friends going to a NASCAR race and having some fun. It is important that these friends all made the race seem like the place to be at.
The biggest takeaway from this video is that this was the exact type of content that NASCAR wanted from the Chicago Street Race. It highlighted the exact positive impact that NASCAR was looking to make from the Chicago Street Race.

thirtyseven1337 says this is not as big of a win as it could have been.
cardboardrobot55 offers an alternate perspective to those upset about where the video was posted.
I would love this too Mahalo18
EricS53 is happy to see this type of content from the Chicago Street Race.
Newyorker38 mentiones that a couple of Jomboy Media members are NASCAR fans.
Does this mean that the entire race was a resounding success? That’s a judgement that cannot be made from this video, but it does highlight NASCAR reaching one of those brand new audiences that they hoped to reach.
