JRM is not off to a good start to the 2023 season, with multiple races featuring teammates getting into each other and destroying competitive runs.

What’s Happening

JR Motorsports is not off to the start they were hoping for in the 2023 season. There have been multiple incidents between teammates throughout the first couple of races this season, and today’s race at Phoenix wasn’t much of an improvement.

  • With 6 laps to go in Stage 2, Sam Mayer bumps into the back of Josh Berry, causing him to spin for the second time in the race.
  • Lap 179 JRM teammate Brandon Jones makes contact with Justin Allgaier sending him into the outside wall and collects others. Justin Allgaier won Stages 1 & 2 before the incident, and Josh Berry rebounded with a top 10 finish.
  • Despite highly competitive teams and equipment, these driver errors have fans scratching their heads wondering what’s going on with JR Motorsports?

The Main Characters

Justin Allgaier had a fantastic start to the day in Phoenix, picking up both Stage wins and looking to have another strong finish after a runner up in Las Vegas.

On lap 179, teammate Brandon Jones made contact with Allgaier sending him into the outside wall of turn 4. Jones bounced off of Kaz Grala, sending the #26 Sam Hunt Toyota into the wall with Allgaier.

Josh Berry got spun by JRM teammate Sam Mayer with a handful of laps remaining in Stage 2, but both were able to continue on.

Around The Garage

Josh Berry takes note of an eventful day, but proud of the efforts of the #8 team to rebound with a top 10.

Only one JR Motorsports car finished inside the top 10, and your Stage winner for both Stages is left with a 36th place finish.
