What’s Happening
On lap 45 of the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond JJ Yeley in his No. 15 went for a spin entering turn 1 after a possible retaliation from the No. 11 driver Denny Hamlin. Off of turn 4 on the previous lap Hamlin, Yeley, and Chandler Smith in the No. 13 for Kaulig Racing were 3-wide for position. JJ Yeley crowded the No. 11 car, which caused Hamlin to lift.
Entering turn 1 Hamlin lined up his front bumper with Yeley’s rear bumper and tapped him, causing the rear end of the No. 15 car to step out and JJ Yeley backed it into the wall.
- Hamlin was recently fined for retaliation on Ross Chastain at Phoenix Raceway a few weeks ago. Hamlin appealed the penalty, but we won’t know the outcome until later this week.
- “Couldn’t have seen it any better. It was off the front bumper of the guy we were riding with and listening to,” Clint Bowyer stated just after the incident happened.
- JJ Yeley was able to get the damage repaired before the DVP clock ran out and met minimum speed on the track. The only concern the team had been refueling the car after the fuel inlet getting heavy damage from the impact.

The Main Characters
Bob Pockrass with Fox Sports caught up with Hamlin this weekend to discuss his appeal for the incident with Ross Chastain at Phoenix.
Denny Hamlin on his appeal next week: “If I’m the only one getting a points penalty out of this whole thing, then there’s something wrong with the system that’s for sure.” pic.twitter.com/LYOlphDKIk

In The Stands
Martin feels for Yeley that runs select races for Rick Ware Racing and feels the incident to bring out the caution was intentional.
Denny definitely did that intentionally. I get he's mad at a lot of people but Yeley isn't one of them that he should be. He did nothing wrong

Other fans show their displeasure with how Hamlin dealt with the situation.
Denny: intentionally hits chastain and admits it

Also Denny: says the field shows no respect
Denny again: intentionally wrecks another driver

So Denny complains about aggressive driving all week and he does this, typical Hamlin 😂

Some think he’s trying to get content for his weekly podcast to keep people talking.
He’s just racing for show content at this point. 😁

Paul Kiefer Jr. was keeping an eye on Yeley and tweets out an update on the No. 15 car.
YELE makes minimum speed and can keep going. The clock is off for him. #nascar

On Your Screen
Eric Estepp shares his thoughts on Hamlin dumping the No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Mustang.
"He got squeezed."

Yeah a little. I didn't see anything that justified wrecking him on purpose. Maybe there was something earlier the cameras didn't see.
Dale Tanhardt of Garage Guys shares his reaction with volume on Twitter over the lack of respect Hamlin has towards other drivers.

Radio Host/Producer, Adam Cheek, is at Richmond and got a clip of JJ Yeley showing some displeasure with Hamlin under the yellow flag.
JJ Yeley certainly LOOKED like he as about to go after Denny Hamlin here on the backstretch.

Kind of feinted towards the No. 11, but no further incident (for now).#NASCAR #ToyotaOwners400 pic.twitter.com/pxtbXtsBqY
