The Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway called for and gained some very important public support for their renovations. The track is in the midst of a major political battle to renovate and expand the historic race track. Bristol Motor Speedway is one of the biggest proponents of the Fairgrounds returning to the NASCAR schedule.

- The Nashville Fairgrounds hosted NASCAR between 1958 and 1984. Now, the racing in Nashville is at the Nashville Superspeedway, and the track has sold out two of the the last three seasons. This shows that Nashville is a place that NASCAR has some footing, and the Fairgrounds being in teh city limits can be a major boost.
