Introduction

Hi. My name is Cody Williams. I scribble on the weekends for the Daily Downforce, so, odds are, you’ve read my work before. When I’m not writing for DDF or working my day job as a middle school teacher, I’m a working novelist. I’ve written a handful of novels such as Bunny Boy, The Fifth Line, and other family favorites. But I wanted to take just a moment of your time and talk to you about a novel I wrote titled The Legend of Groovy Hollow: Lost Boys, out now and available as an eBook from A. E. Engine and True Terror Publications.

Hence the title, Lost Boys is the second book in the Groovy Hollow series of tie-in novels to Eric Estepp’s and Out of the Groove’s annual Groovy Hollow iRacing event for charity. This year’s event will be benefitting the Victory Junction Gang Camp and will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 7:30 PM EST. It’ll air live on Eric’s YouTube channel. Last year, I wrote and published a novel titled The Ballad of Tommie Joe Swanson. To make the connection stronger, we retitled the book The Legend of Groovy Hollow.

What’s It About?

Lost Boys is, in part a sequel to the first book but also an expansion of the lore of Groovy Hollow. Equal parts period drama, modern horror, and southern gothic, the book follows Max DePew, an aspiring journalism student, and his partner, Ashley, as they set out to uncover the dark and twisted origins of Old Stone Castle Speedway, a local home track that’s been lost to time and the wilderness. Feeding off the mysterious disappearance of two twin racers, Tony and Shelton Forge, Stone Castle seems to have become a breeding ground, attracting many ghosts and ghouls to the small town of Stone Castle, Georgia. One of those mythic forces it attracts is none other than Bucky Blackwell, his Halloween Machine, and the infamous Groovy Hollow Raceway.

Now completely resurrected from the dead, the Groovy Hollow Raceway finds new life in a new location, deepening the spooky mystery. Other characters also take over this novel and steal the show. There’s the Forge family, haunted by the disappearance of their sons following a short track battle that ended with both of them wrecked and in the wall. There’s a YouTube and iRacing streamer who is more than he appears, but plays an over-the-top character for his online fans. And, yes, Tommie Jo returns. Tommie went through a lot in the last book, and she’s deeply scared by the experience and suffering from a tremendous amount of self-doubt and heartbreaking loss.

Lost Boys is a big book with a big cast of central characters. It’s about twice the length of the first novel and one that I hope moves you and gives you a good fright.
