Shane Van Gisbergen has signed with Trackhouse Racing on a developmental deal for 2024. While he has stated his goal is to be in the Cup Series for 2025, he still has places he can go to get the much-needed oval experience in the lower series for 2024. There are plenty of teams to choose from, and here are the places he can go.

If Xfinity is the route that SVG would like to go, then Kaulig Racing is the most likely destination. It is a Chevrolet team that fielded Trackhouse driver Ross Chastain this season. SVG would be in good equipment, which would allow him to compete at the level he expects to at Trackhouse. The downside to this would be that Trackhouse has an alliance with a Chevrolet Cup Series team already, and it is not Kaulig. However, Bob Pockrass has speculated that Kaulig could be a destination.
Niece has a relationship with Trackhouse as Ross Chastain has raced for the team before including this season. On top of that, SVG raced for the team in his one oval track start at Indianapolis Raceway Park back in the summer. On top of that, there is also a belief that the Truck Series better resembles the way the current Cup Series car drives. Brennan Poole talked about this on a “Power Hour” episode, and that could push Trackhouse to move SVG to Trucks.
If the Truck Series is considered the better place for drivers to develop because of the way the trucks drive, Spire is a place SVG could go. First off, Spire has an alliance with Trackhouse now, including having Trackhouse driver Zane Smith on loan for the 2024 season. That alliance could go a long way, and Spire has a third “All-Star Truck” that they will field in 2024 according to Bob Pockrass. SVG absolutely could be a candidate for this truck.
Another Chevrolet team that could be one to watch in 2024 is Hendrick Motorsports. They have fielded the #17 truck with sponsorship from HendrickCars.com the last few seasons, and it could be a ride that SVG uses. This is primarily because of Hendrick being a Chevy team. However, this is a part-time effort, so, the opportunities for SVG would be limited.
Bob Pockrass also mentioned this as a potential place should sponsorship work out. It has a lot of the same benefits of Kaulig and Hendrick being Chevy teams with good equipment. However, this 88 car is, again, a part-time car, which limits the opportunities SVG could have. Maybe it could happen, but this could be very unlikely.
Where will SVG race in 2024 as part of the Trackhouse development deal? Will he race at any of these organizations, or will it be somewhere else?
