  • BELL AT CHICAGO: Christopher Bell started fourth, won both stages, and led a race-high 37 laps in the inaugural Chicago Street Race last July. He appeared poised to compete for the win until impending darkness forced NASCAR to shorten the race and altered strategy for the leaders. After making his final pit stop, Bell found himself mired back in the pack which ultimately led to an 18th-place finish.
  • BELL ON ROAD COURSES: In 23 NASCAR Cup Series starts on road courses, Bell has earned two victories, six top-five finishes, and 12 top-10s. He captured his first career victory on the Daytona Road Course in February 2021 and earned a playoff win at the Charlotte ROVAL in October 2022. More recently, Bell has finished in the top three in two of the past four road course races, including a runner-up finish at Circuit of the Americas in March. He also claimed a NASCAR Xfinity Series victory at Road America in August 2019.
  • HEATING UP: Bell has led 80 or more laps in four of the last six races. Prior to that, he led more than 80 laps in four of his first 157 career starts. Over the last six races, Bell has two wins, three top-five finishes, five top-10s, and 457 laps led. During that stretch, he has led 209 more laps than the next closest competitor.
  • CRAFTSMAN RACING FOR A MIRACLE: The No. 20 Toyota Camry XSE will carry a special scheme this weekend honoring the 18th year of Stanley Black & Decker supporting the Racing for a Miracle program alongside the Ace Hardware Foundation. The program has donated more than $1.8M over the years to Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals around the country. Children from Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago have artwork featured on the sides of the car.
  • NASHVILLE RECAP: Bell finished 36th in last weekend’s race at Nashville Superspeedway after misfortune in the final stage spoiled another stellar performance by the No. 20 team. Before his troubles, Bell led a race-high 131 laps and swept the stages for the fourth time in his career.
  • JGR AT CHICAGO: Ty Gibbs led Joe Gibbs Racing with a ninth-place finish in last year’s inaugural Chicago Street Race. In addition to Gibbs’ strong finish, highlights of the event for JGR included Denny Hamlin securing the pole award as well as Bell leading a race-high 37 laps and winning both stages.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s race at the Chicago Street Course begins Sunday, July 7, at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

From the Cockpit:

Christopher Bell: “Last year going into the Chicago street race, we had a really good practice and I was looking forward to a dry race. And then the wet, and when we started the race, we just took off and were really good. The track is very, very technical, very high risk and high reward. You have to push the car hard and be right on the edge. I’m looking forward to going back this weekend to see what we can do this year and it’s always an honor to race the CRAFTSMAN Racing for a Miracle scheme, hopefully we can get them a win.”
