When AM Racing announced that Hailie Deegan would join the team in 2024, one person was absent, Brett Moffitt. Moffitt has yet to officially announce his plans for 2024, but the 2018 Truck Series Champion has plenty of options to look at.
Kaulig Racing: Xfinity
Kaulig Racing is a team in complete flux heading into 2024, and their plans for their second Cup Series car are going to be announced sooner rather than later. However, the recent reports surrounding Chandler Smith mean that an Xfinity ride could be open at Kaulig. It would be a major upgrade for Moffitt as he will be in race-winning equipment for the first time since he won his Truck Series Championship.
The biggest question is funding for Moffitt as it is with every Kaulig Racing ride this offseason. If Moffitt has the funding, then he would be an intriguing driver to put in that ride, and he definitely has the talent to win races. Is this his big chance with a top team in Xfinity?
Richard Childress Racing: Xfinity
Sheldon Creed and RCR parting ways was not a move that many expected. However, it opened up a top Xfinity Series ride with some significant funding behind it from Whelen. That’s not often in the Xfinity Series, and it makes it an intriguing option for Moffitt.
The question for Moffitt is the competition he may have for the ride. Plenty of drivers are looking to this ride for the 2024 season, and Moffitt may be on the outside looking in when it all shakes out.
AM Racing: Xfinity
AM Racing is still an option for Moffitt in 2024, but does he really want to go back there? He has not been terrible there by any means, but it is obvious there is a ceiling with AM Racing equipment. Does Moffitt really want to stay there?
He bounced from Our Motorsports heading into 2023, so, who is to say he won’t do it again? Regardless, Moffitt may want some continuity heading into 2024, and staying with AM Racing provides that.
Front Row Motorsports: Trucks
Brett Moffitt was asked to run one race for Front Row Motorsports this year at Talladega, and he won the race. Front Row Motorsports is a Ford team that is looking for a driver to take over their top Truck Series ride for 2024. With that win at Talldega, is that what FRM needed to convince them that Moffitt is their next driver?
The question is whether or not Ford wants to see someone older like Moffitt in the ride, or do they want someone younger in the seat? Ford is low on prospects, and putting someone like Moffitt in a top ride in the Truck Series may not be high on their list.
ThorSport: Trucks
If Moffitt wants to make the move to the Truck Series, ThorSport is another top ride. It would also be natural as he would swap with Hailie Deegan essentially. Now, would Moffitt like the optics of this happening?
It may look bad from the outside if Deegan moves up but Moffit moves down. However, if Moffitt is all about winning races, then moving somewhere like ThorSport may be a good move. ThorSport is a Championship-level organization, and that could be exactly what Moffit wants.
Brett Moffitt could be the next driver to make a big move this Silly Season. Will it be with any of these rides?
