What’s Happening?

Richard Childress Racing has finally confirmed the schedule for its third car, the No. 33. Austin Hill will drive the part-time entry in five races throughout the 2025 season starting on Apr. 6 at Darlington Raceway.

  • Hill will make five starts for the team, the final four of which are on Jul. 6 at Chicago Street Course, Aug. 23 at Daytona International Speedway, Sept. 13 at Bristol Motor Speedway, and Oct. 19 at Talladega Superspeedway. Hill previously entered one race in the car in 2023 and four races in 2024.
  • Veteran Xfinity Series crew chief Andy Street will call the shots for Hill in these starts. Street served as an RCR Xfinity Series Crew Chief from 2019 to 2024. Beginning in 2022, Street was the Crew Chief for Austin Hill; the two won ten races through last season before his promotion.
  • Oddly enough, RCR announced that they were fielding a part-time car on Dec. 9 as part of a flurry of Crew Chief moves. However, at the time, they did not announce drivers, with most expecting Hill to race in a handful of races. There is still no indication as to whether or not Hill will be the only driver starting races in the No. 33 this season, despite many flagrant rumors.
  • Last season, Hill, Ty Dillon, and Supercars standout Will Brown all piloted the No. 33. With Dillon behind the wheel, the team scored its best finish of 19th at Indianapolis. Despite his strong sponsorship and winning ways in the Xfinity Series, it is still unclear whether RCR will ever fully promote 30-year-old Hill.
