What’s Happening?
Lionel Racing has something brand new for NASCAR fans this coming holiday season. It is a great twist on a great Christmas tradition, a Die-Cast holiday calendar.
The Lionel Racing Advent Calendar
The “12 Days of Surprises” Lionel holiday calendar can be found on lionelracing.com for only $49.99. In a special Lionel Racing twist, as opposed to the traditional candy behind the 12 doors, there is instead a 1:64 scale NASCAR die-cast from the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Craftsman Truck Series. This includes seven die-casts that have never before been produced. The calendar also features a race track on the inside of it that the die-casts can race on as well.
How Did This Come About
Eric Estepp sat down with Lionel Racing’s social media coordinator, Karlean Maringean to talk about how the calendar came about. She mentioned that they had been working on this calendar for “A few months”, and Eric was particularly impressed by the graphic highlighting that it could be ready to go under the tree without a need for wrapping paper.
The idea came about after Maringean was inspired to do an advent calendar with her now-fiance from a YouTube video. Her now-fiance then asked if there was a NASCAR advent calendar which got the wheel turning for Maringean.
She felt that this was a perfect fit for two major reasons. First off, die-casts perfectly fit into a holiday countdown calendar just like this one. Secondly, Christmas time is huge for Lionel because of their train business. How many of you have had a Lionel train rolling around under a Christmas tree at home?
She even gave some insight into which cars will be on the calendar. This includes all three manufacturers, all three series, the seven exclusives, the three schemes on the front, and some “Winner’s Circle” cars. Aside from being available online, Maringean also said that the calendars are going to be available at the Lionel stores in Concord, North Carolina, and Nashville, Tennessee.
This is quite the gift to give to any NASCAR fan in your life. It is the die-casts that NASCAR fans love with a special Christmas twist given to it.
