What’s Happening?
As qualifying for the Grant Park 165 at the Chicago Street Course wraps up, we are already experiencing upsets. While Katherine Legge will be preparing for the Cup Series racing on the streets of Chicago, Corey Heim in the No. 67 Toyota Camry will be packing the hauler and heading back to North Carolina a day early.
The Cup Series roared into Chicago with 41 cars on the entry list, but only 40 spots. That left one of the open cars on the chopping block.
- No. 13 Will Brown (Kaulig Racing)
- No. 33 Austin Hill (Richard Childress Racing)
- No. 66 Josh Bilicki (Garage 66)
- No. 67 Corey Heim (23XI Racing)
- No. 78 Katherine Legge (Live Fast Motorsports)
During qualifying, Heim hit the wall, bending a rear toe link. This issue caused Heim to run only a 1:32.506 lap time during Group 1 Qualifying. Well off pace of the pole winning lap time of 1:29.656, and 23XI teammate No. 45 Tyler Reddick who ran a 1:30.227.
Group 2 rolled out of the pits with the No. 78 Chevrolet driven by Katherine Legge, looking to beat the 1:32.506. On her first lap, Legge hit the wall creating doubt that she will beat the time. Her next lap, Legge ran a 1:32.368 officially eliminating the No. 67 Toyota from the Cup Race on Sunday.
History has been made. Katherine Legge qualified her way into Chicago Street Course becoming the first female to ever do so. She called it a huge sigh of relief and thankful to Live Fast for the car. pic.twitter.com/c8q9ayVeRc

With the No. 67 heading home, Heim will be watching from the stands. Katherine Legge will be the first ever female driver to compete in the Chicago Street Race. Starting 37th, will Legge and Live Fast Motorsports continue to make history tomorrow in the Grant Park 165?
