What’s Happening?

Two weeks into the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series, fans have had a chance to take in all the CW has to offer. So, looking back at the network’s first two races of the 2025 season, how are things going?

Viewership

So far, the first two races of the season have seen a boost in viewership from their 2024 counterparts.

The Series season debut at Daytona had 1.8 million viewers, roughly .753 million or 80.7% more viewers than the 2024 race’s 0.933 million viewers on FS1. According to some reports, viewership for the Daytona race peaked at 2.2 million viewers.

Saturday’s race at Atlanta also saw an increase. While not as drastic as the Daytona race, Atlanta’s 1.36 million viewers were a 14% overall jump from 2024. This was also the highest-viewed spring Xfinity Series race at Atlanta since the series began racing there twice a year in 2021.

Fan Favorites

The CW initially took over NASCAR Xfinity Series coverage for NBC at the Bristol night race last fall. At the time, the CW maintained a modified version of the NBC graphics package and their booth.

However, for this season, the CW introduced a modern graphics package and a new booth consisting of veteran play-by-play voice Adam Alexander alongside NASCAR veterans Jamie McMurray and Parker Kligerman.

The booth has generally received a positive reaction from the NASCAR community. During their time in similar roles at FOX, some may have felt that McMurray and Alexander were underutilized. However, the three-man group seems to have a decent amount of chemistry.

Furthermore, the all-around production, including the graphics, has had its set of fans as well. Fans have grown tired of the production style presented by NBC and FOX Sports. The general takeaway from fans and NASCAR media members is that in the last two weeks, the CW has been a breath of fresh air.

Lingering Confusion

While most have taken the CW as a refresher from NBC, and FOX in particular, it has had its fair share of detractors. Of course, new graphics and a new booth are going to have their fair share of haters; however, there is general confusion about the network’s presentation.

The first major problem came during the Daytona practice and qualifying, in which fans voiced their problems finding the broadcast location of each session. This confusion came from the CW exclusively broadcasting practice and qualifying on the CW app rather than on the main CW network.

Another issue stems from the app. Some fans are still confused about how to watch races on the go, as the CW app does not broadcast races live; rather, it only offers a replay of races one day after they occur. This was a point of confusion late last season; however, it has resurfaced this season.

The CW is avalibe in Live TV streaming services like YouTube TV, however, this is the onlly true option if you are on the go. For those still trying to asses their options, we have written a detailed guide on watching the CW in 2025.

Although some confusion remains regarding how to watch the CW, the positive feedback from viewers, along with strong viewership numbers in the first two races, suggest that the CW’s inclusion in the NASCAR media landscape is currently a success.
