iRacing’s most recent development update introduced a new stock car, featured news about track upgrades, and information on the team’s future console release, NASCAR 25. So what do NASCAR fans need to know about the latest updates from the “official simulation partner of NASCAR.”

• First, the new Mini Stock Car will be available in four weeks with season four. Mini stocks are a popular series at short tracks across the U.S. iRacing’s model features a 2.3L inline four Engine. The car is available on ovals, dirt, and asphalt and set at the Rookie Level, with both versions free for all users.
• iRacing teased “great additions” for oval racing in the coming year. It mentioned a Gen Four stock car, sometimes called a Car of Yesterday. This generation lasted from 1992 to 2007 at the Cup Series level. iRacing also hints at ARCA soon being revisited. ARCA utilized the Gen Four car for most of the 21st century and was seen occasionally until 2020. However, Gen Four cars are still allowed in the East and West Series.
• Track scans are happening at multiple NASCAR tracks nationwide to upgrade those with out-of-date features. The update mentions New Hampshire as one of these tracks, hinting that all NASCAR tracks could face the same retooling.
• Finally, some mentions of NASCAR 25 are featured. Questions have surrounded what assets would be shared from the sim to benefit the future console release. However, the insight from this update paints a different picture. The two sides share information rather than a one-sided affair. That information is visual and code-based—creating a symbiotic relationship within iRacing.
