What’s Happening?
Those that are nostalgic will remember the days of the SPEED channel. Non-stop racing, news, and archived content every day. Is there a new channel coming?
What We Know So Far:
- NASCAR currently has a job posting on Indeed.com
- The channel name will be ‘FAST’
- NASCAR has confirmed the job posting, but not the channel
Searching NASCAR on Indeed.com in the Concord, NC area will yield some intriguing results. One of the results that is catching the attention of those around the industry is for a position titled ‘Manager, Content Programming‘.
In the listing is the following information:
This person is responsible for leveraging NASCAR’s extensive portfolio of new original-content and historical video archives to program the NASCAR Channel (FAST). The manager will work to optimize consumption to help grow the emerging digital platform and manage the day-to-day functions of the channel.
The job listing goes on to describe how the applicant would be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of operations for the “24/7 ecosystem.” This would be NASCAR’s first all-inclusive channel since the closing of SPEED in August 2013.
This comes on the heels of the announcement of ‘NASCAR Productions,’ the in-house media productions for NASCAR. Since the opening of this new endeavor, we have speculated it was a matter of time before a new NASCAR channel came to fruition.
NASCAR Productions is working on multiple docuseries like the one of Kaulig Racing named ‘Trophy Hunting.’ This is new content that would be a taste of the features on ‘FAST.’
As the race for the playoffs is coming to a close, so are the questions on an all-inclusive NASCAR channel coming to life. There is no current release date for ‘FAST,’ but fans can revel in the fact that it is coming.
