What’s Happening?
As Silly Season continues to take shape, Kaz Grala is one of the most interesting drivers to discuss. In a part-time schedule as the anchor driver in the No. 15 car for Rick Ware Racing, he has three top-20 finishes, including a 14th-place result at Atlanta. What does the future hold for Kaz Grala, and where could he go in 2025?
- Grala came to RWR in 2024 after a full-time season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Sam Hunt Racing. He has one career National Touring Series win, coming at Daytona in the Truck Series in 2017.
- This year has been his first extended run in the Cup Series. Despite missing 2 races, he’s ahead of Cup Series rookie and full-time driver Zane Smith in the points standings.
- Fans have been impressed with Grala so far. Will Grala be able to stick around with RWR beyond 2024?
Rick Ware Racing
Kaz Grala returning to Rick Ware Racing in 2025 would make a lot of sense. He’s done a good job staying out of trouble and getting the most out of the car, which is what’s most important when driving for a team like RWR. On top of that, RWR is a team with an upward trajectory.
The question is whether or not RWR wants a full-time driver in this seat. Grala would have to put together enough sponsorship for that, and whether he has enough is still uncertain.
Kaulig Racing
According to recent comments by team President Chris Rice, Kaulig Racing is seemingly staying on the grid as-is put in 2025 despite recent rumors. The drivers are still a mystery with Daniel Hemric’s 2025 plans uncertain and the No. 16 car an All-Star Car this year. It’s easy to see Grala slotting in ether full-time or part-time.
However, would Kaulig be a true upgrade for Grala? At best, it would be a lateral move from a team with an upward trajectory to a flat one. However, Kaulig seems to have something up their sleeve, so, maybe this move would be better than we think.
Front Row Motorsports
Front Row Motorsports is a mystery heading into 2025. They are losing their stalwart driver and are reportedly in the charter market. Either way, this could be an interesting place for Grala to land in 2025.
However, a crowded group of drivers will be competing for this spot. Stewart-Haas Racing’s future is uncertain, and each of its current drivers could be looking for new rides. Is there enough room for Grala>
RSS Racing
RSS Racing is one of the most interesting teams in the Xfinity Series. They won their first race in 2023 with Aric Almirola, and Grala has shown promise at all levels of the sport.
However, will Grala elevate a team like RSS Racing? He would be in a position where he needs to elevate the team instead of the team elevating the driver. It could be a big ask for someone like Grala.
AM Racing
Hailie Deegan has been a complete disappointment for AM Racing so far. This team finished in the top 10 nine times last year, but, Deegan hasn’t even sniffed that part of the field 11 races into the 2024 season. Enter Kaz Grala, who brings at least some funding with him.
This would keep Grala in the Ford camp, and it’s a ride that he knows can do good things. It would be of a similar caliber to the Sam Hunt Racing equipment he raced in 2023, so, Grala knows how to compete in equipment like this. However, it would be a drop-down to the Xfinity Series.
Where Will Kaz Grala race in 2024? We will find out as Silly Season rolls on.
