Morris, CEO of DQS Solutions & Staffing, and Fowler, CEO of J.F. Electric, are already partners of the team and have sponsored multiple entries this season. J.F. Electric’s sponsorship dates back to last season. Though they are now the majority owners of the ten-year-old team started by Al Niece, they confirmed during the PRS conference at Richmond Raceway that the team will retain its name.
Niece was not in attendance for the press conference, though the team’s founder said in the press release, “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished. This change allows me to return to the heart of why I got into racing—the passion and excitement of competition—while entrusting the business to partners who believe in our team and our people.”
Cody Efaw and Phil Gould will remain within the organization, though both will take on new posts. Efaw, the team’s former General Manager, will be named President and CEO, while Gould, the team’s winningest crew chief, will take on the role of Director of Competition. Efaw said during the press conference, “It’s been tough. I’ve cried about it.” He thinks the sale puts the team in a “better spot.”
Niece has competed in NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series since 2016, slowly building her way up from a mid-pack organization to a winning team. Along the way, drivers like Ross Chastain, a five-time winner, and Carson Hocevar, a four-time winner, have piloted their Chevrolet.
While the team has no set plans for 2026, Efaw said during this press conference that “I’ve always said three is the right number” regarding the number of entries they will field. However, the team is actively fielding four right now, including newly signed Andres Perez de Lara in their No. 44 for the rest of the season.
This announcement follows a tough week for the team, which is celebrating its tenth season in NASCAR. They released long-time driver Kaden Honeycutt, who signed with a new team and OEM for 2026. At the time, the team faced backlash for the decision, which they deemed “allows our team the opportunity to begin building for the future.”
It now appears that the future the team was alluding to at the time is a full-on refresh, rather than simply bringing in new talent.
This is a developing story.
