The Safest Seats in the NASCAR Xfinity Series

What’s Happening?

The NASCAR Xfinity Series is known for having a lot of turnover year-to-year throughout the grid. An Xfinity Series seat rarely remains filled for an extended period, but a few are pretty well secure beyond this year. These are the safest seats in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

  • For this list, we will focus on the seats that seem almost certain to remain the same for 2025. Unlike the Cup Series, it’s rare to see drivers stay in the series with the same team beyond just a few years, and many seats change from year to year.
  • Some of these drivers are top prospects who need a few more years before jumping to the Cup Series. Other drivers are series veterans who have carved out entire careers in the series.
  • The Xfinity Series is a great breeding ground for new Cup Series talent. A few Cup Series teams have dedicated Xfinity Series programs or are aligned with Xfinity teams.

The JR Motorsports Pair: Justin Allgaier and Sammy Smith

While JR Motorsports might see some turnover in 2025, it’s unlikely that will come from Justin Allgaier and Sammy Smith. Smith signed a multi-year contract with JRM before 2024, and, while he’s gone winless in the first 19 races of 2024, he’s still currently in the Playoff field. Allgaier is a stalwart at JRM, and he is in his ninth season with the team in the No. 7 car.

The other two cars are a bit of a mystery. Brandon Jones hasn’t confirmed whether or not he will be back, and Sam Mayer might be a candidate for Cup Series rides. Add Connor Zilisch into the fold should he officially sign, and that makes a recipe for an interesting off-season at JRM.

The Richard Childress Racing Duo: Austin Hill and Jesse Love

RCR locked up Jesse Love heading into 2024 after signing Austin Hill to a multi-year contract extension. Love is the young gun that RCR is likely building around for the future, and Hill is the team veteran who might have a Cup Series chance in the future should the cars fall right.

RCR isn’t expected to make any major changes at the Cup level in 2025, and neither driver has any reason to leave their Xfinity seat. Now, for 2026, that remains to be seen.

The Joe Gibbs Racing Duad: Chandler Smith and Sheldon Creed

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Cup Series lineup is now set, with Chase Briscoe taking over the No. 19 car in 2025. With that, there’s nowhere for the JGR Xfinity Series drivers, Chandler Smith and Sheldon Creed, to go. Both drivers have also performed quite well.

Smith has won two races and hung at or near the top of the points standings throughout the season. While Creed hasn’t won a race, he’s still comfortably in the Playoffs 19 races into the season. There’s simply no reason for them to leave and no real reason for JGR to let them go.

RSS Racing: Ryan Sieg

Ryan Sieg has enjoyed a very good 2024 for RSS Racing. He is just a few points out of the Playoffs, and he came within inches of getting his first career win at Texas in the spring. His father, Rod Sieg, owns RSS Racing as well.

All of this combines to give Ryan Sieg incredible job security. He’s a series veteran, and he continues to perform well for the team.
