In NASCAR, sponsors are vital to a race team’s success, but, sometimes, these relationships are either eviscerated, damaged, or just get strange. As a result, sponsor censorship has been a humorous and strange issue in NASCAR that pops up every now and again. Elly Productions looks at this history in his most recent video.

  • While censoring sponsors is not a new concept, the departure of Winston kicked it into high gear. Now, we were seeing plenty of sponsors being censored out of the sport.
  • Elly highlights some of the biggest racing censorship instances in history. From “Bottlegate” to one-off sponsors changes, to video games.
  • The issues included conflicts with other NASCAR sponsors, drivers ages for certain sponsors, and multiple other legal issues. Anything under the sun has caused sponsorship censorship in NASCAR.
