What’s Happening?

According to the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Owners Points Transfers list, Spire Motorsports has registered the No. 07 for Cup Series Competition. While this may confirm a rumor of the team fielding a fourth part-time car in 2025, there is no confirmation from Spire of any plans thus far.

  • This news does not mean Spire owns another Charter, nor will they consistently field this car. It simply means they have the right to use the No. 07 and earn owners points for the number in the NASCAR Cup Series. Spire is fielding three full-time chartered cars in 2025: the No. 7, the No. 71, and the No. 77.
  • A rumor that Spire could field a third car first swelled mid-October from the nascarrumornostaglia Instagram account. This account has a solid track record of rumors. Following it’s circulation Brakehard and his sources in the garage area supported this rumor’s veracity.
  • While there are no plans for the car as of right now, this expansion will not be a full-time car at any point, as NASCAR now limits teams to owning three Charters. This car will be similar to the fourth cars entered by 23XI or Trackhouse Racing. However, it seems more likely that it will be for younger prospects rather than all-star drivers.
  • These prospects could come from Hendrick Motorsports, with whom Spire has a relationship, yet the drivers could be in-house. Spire recently expanded to four NASCAR Truck Series teams. This lineup includes two all-star trucks and two full-time efforts from Andres Perez de Lara and HMS prospect Rajah Caruth.
  • Spire is one of the fastest-growing NASCAR teams; they expanded their operation last year and are fielding a fresh lineup in 2025.
