What’s Happening?

Spire Motorsports has had a stellar Silly Season this year, making big addition after big addition. Now, the team has added another piece to its personnel lineup for next season.

  • Spotter Eddie D’Hondt, currently the spotter for Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 4 entry, driven by Josh Berry, will move to Spire from SHR in 2025. This move follows Spire’s trend this offseason of improving its personnel while cleaning up its driver lineup heading into 2025.
  • Spire Motorsports currently operates a three-car NASCAR Cup Series team. For their Silly Season, Spire started by signing Daytona 500 Champion Michael McDowell and his Crew Chief Travis Peterson. They also signed Cup Series Champion Crew Chief Rodney Childers from SHR.
  • Spire continued to make shocking moves due to its underwhelming performance this season. Their third driver, Zane Smith, a loaned driver from Trackhouse, will not return in 2025. Furthermore, the team announced they would cut ties with cornerstone driver Corey Lajoie at season’s end.
  • After a long vetting process, Spire “traded” Lajoie to Rick Ware Racing for driver Justin Haley. Haley will drive the No. 7 next season, with Childers calling the shots. All these moves support their only returning driver, Carson Hocevar, who has been a beacon of light in what has been a difficult season.
