What’s Happening?
Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal reports that Josh Berry has “Held talks” with The Wood Brothers about driving the No. 21 car in 2024. Nothing further was reported on how often the two have talked and how serious those conversations are. However, Berry did tell Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, “I feel way better now than I did maybe a couple weeks ago,” regarding his plans for 2024.
- The Wood Brothers have struggled mightily the last three seasons with Harrison Burton at the helm. As a result, Burton is reportedly “Unlikely” to return after 2024, according to a recent report by Bob Pockrass. The Wood Brothers have been rumored to have interest in both Chase Briscoe and Justin Haley, but Briscoe is all-but guaranteed to join JGR, and Justin Haley has publicly affirmed his commitment to Rick Ware Racing.
- Josh Berry is in his rookie season at Stewart-Haas Racing. He’s shown some promise this year and in fill-in duty at Hendrick Motorsports in 2023. He joined NASCAR after many years toiling in late models before JR Motorsports gave him an opportunity in the Xfinity Series.
- Fans would love to see Berry move to The Wood Brothers. It would keep him in the Cup Series with Ford, and he could help improve the team.
