Race Recap: The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series took to Texas Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon for practice and qualifying before the night’s race. Currey and the No. 41 team ended up with an eighth-place starting position for the seventh race of the season. Currey was forced to visit pit road under caution during the opening stage of the race after another competitor made contact with the No. 41 truck, which led to a tire rub. Currey and team fought hard to rebound for the rest of the night, running inside the top-15 for much of the evening, ultimately surviving the late-race carnage and ending the night in 14th.

Matt Mills on Friday’s Race at Texas Motor Speedway: “We fired off alright,” said Mills. “We tried to do a strategy that didn’t pay off how we hoped. From there I struggled to get a handle of the truck and got a in a hole going laps down. We just didn’t have the speed we needed, and we will move on to Kansas.”

Race Recap: Matt Mills and the No. 42 J.F. Electric team posted the third quickest lap in the lone practice session of the day for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Team: No. 45 Karl Chevrolet Silverado
Driver: Johnny Sauter (Necedah, Wisconsin) | Crew Chief: Phil Gould

Start: 18th | Finish: 17th | Owner Point Standings: 11th

Johnny Sauter on Friday’s Race at Texas Motor Speedway: “I had a blast tonight,” said Sauter. “We were looking pretty good there towards the second stage running in 10th, and I felt like we were one adjustment away from getting into the nitty gritty and running in the top-five, but the track tightened up and lost front turn and couldn’t make up more from there. Thank you to Niece Motorsports and Phil Gould for bringing another great truck.”

Race Recap: Johnny Sauter returned to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Niece Motorsports for his second start of the season. Sauter took to the track on Friday afternoon for a brief practice and qualifying session, netting an 18th-place starting position for the night’s race. With a one-groove race track for much of the race, passing proved to be tough. Sauter methodically moved his way forward, breaking into the top-10 by the end of the second stage. Late contact with the wall and an ending filled with caution flags halted Sauter’s progress to the front of the field, leaving the No. 45 with a 17th-place result.
