• “The Magic Mile,” New Hampshire Motor Speedway opened in 1990 and has served as New England’s representation on the NASCAR National Series ever since. Throughout the years, the mostly flat 1.058-mile oval has produced some of the sport’s most interesting moments and races.
• For a long period of time, NHMS was a staple of the tracks, which received two dates per season. From 1997 to 2017, the track hosted two Cup Series dates a year. Neither the Craftsman Truck nor Xfinity Series has hosted two dates at the track in a given season, though they have both sporadically hosted races since 1996 and 1990, with the Xfinity Series snapping their 34-year streak this season.
• The weather is a major factor in New Hampshire, even last spring, the races saw rain cancel qualifying, and the stars of the Cup Series tackle the race on a mostly wet track.
