Adam Stern was the first to report that NASCAR TV viewership increased by 75,000 viewers for this weekend's race at Darlington

What’s Happening

For the fifth week in a row, NASCAR TV viewership increased this weekend. According to Adam Stern, Throwback Weekend at Darlington drew in 2.689 million viewers, and NASCAR was second in sporting event ratings this weekend going up against the NBA Playoffs on network TV.

  • Darlington’s Throwback Weekend brought in 2.689 million viewers, a 75,000 viewer increase from last seasons race at Darlington. The only sporting event that beat NASCAR this past weekend was the Philadelphia 76ers at Boston Celtics NBA Playoffs Game 7 on ABC. NASCAR was on the FS1 cable channel.
  • NASCAR has enjoyed consistent viewership increase for the past five weeks after the ratings were down during the first few weeks of the season, always a big deal when considering NASCAR is getting set for the next TV deal.
  • Fans are happy to see how NASCAR performed in last weekend’s context. They credit multiple things for the ratings increase.

Kenny Wallace was excited to see the ratings increase.

In the Stands

That is a good question Larry.

Where was McQueen on Sunday?

Plausible Zach. Very plausible.

Ryan Newman is a needle mover.

Oh how effects effect things.

Ross Chastain did make this last weekend entertaining.

Kyle Busch indeed had some effect.

Carl Edwards in the booth saved NASCAR’s ratings.

NASCAR did draw more viewers than the USFL on FOX.

On Your Screen

One can only imagine Darian.

USFL was on FOX on Sunday. Is that the explanation you are looking for?

From the Pressbox

We all love to see it!

NASCAR viewership increasing is always a pleasant sight. Especially considering the struggles NASCAR had in the ratings early in the season.
