What’s Happening?
Matt Lewis, a Producer at iRacing, said that he thinks NASCAR ’25’s paint booth will be “advanced” compared to past NASCAR console games, including the ability to edit haulers and pit boxes, during a recent interview.
After years of waiting, the release date for iRacing’s NASCAR console game, NASCAR ’25, is now just days away, as early access to the game opens this Friday night.
But, fans are still waiting to have major questions answered, including advanced setups, online play details, and the ultra-important paint booth.
A paint booth is nothing new to NASCAR console games, and fans already know certain details about what iRacing is referring to as “Car Creator.” Most of the information revealed revolves around the inability to upload and share schemes, a common feature in the company’s subscription-based online racing sim that has not appeared in past NASCAR console games.
For the upcoming game, NASCAR ’25 will utilize the traditional sandbox-style paint scheme editor, giving users the option to create designs and logos using shapes. This style of paint booth was utilized in the most recent NASCAR game, NASCAR 21: Ignition, made in 2021.
Although fans are not allowed to upload sponsor logos or team number fonts, during a recent interview with OverTake_gg, Producer Matt Lewis stated that he believes the paint booth will be “advanced from, I think, anything they’ve seen in prior titles for sure.”
Lewis even said that players will be able to theme their hauler and pit boxes, among other items, to match their paint scheme.
“It’s not just the car itself. There’s some other elements, pit boxes, haulers, things like that, you can palletize with colors and designs and things like that.” — Matt Lewis
While this may be cool news for fans who like to have continuity across their race shop, the specifics of how this will work, and what this entails, are yet to be seen, as iRacing has yet to do a video reveal or tutorial for the Car Creator feature of the game. However, Lewis acknowledged this and confirmed that some content is on the way.
“We haven’t shown any videos on it [Car Creator] yet,” Lewis said. “We’re probably gonna do that, sometime shortly before launch, just to put some things out and kind of show how that works.”
