What’s Happening?

There’s a brand-new track on the NASCAR schedule in 2025, and it resides in the northeast. Lime Rock Park, located in Lakeville, Connecticut, returns to the NASCAR schedule after a 14-year hiatus. The Craftsman Truck Series will race at the track on the weekend of June 27-28, 2025.

Rich History

Lime Rock Park was opened in 1957, making it the third oldest continuously operating road racing venue, behind Road America (1955) and Willow Springs International Motorsports Park (1953). Currently owned by Skip Barber, the track was the brainchild of Jim Vaill, John Fitch, and the Cornell Aeronautical Lab, who built the track using state-of-the-art road and highway safety principles of the time. Over the years, it’s been the site of races in notable racing series, including Trans-Am, IMSA, Pirelli World Challenge, Rolex Sports Car Series, and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Notable NASCAR drivers that have raced at Lime Rock include Austin Dillon and Joey Logano, and the track is part-owned by Xfinity driver and pit reporter Parker Kligerman.

Layout and Configuration

Lime Rock is a 1.530-mile natural terrain road course in the Berkshire Mountains, part of the greater Appalachian Mountain range. Its unique feature is that there are no grandstands or permanent seating at the facility. Instead, the track invites fans to bring their own chairs or blankets to set up or sit on the grassy hillside. The “classic” configuration is seven turns, but there are also three optional layouts, with eight, nine, and ten turns, respectively.

Passionate Fanbase

Unsurprisingly, NASCAR wants to expand its presence in the northeast United States. With fantastic sellout crowds and turnouts yearly at the two current northeastern tracks, New Hampshire and Pocono, the need for more NASCAR in the northeast is a must. Lime Rock, a track rich with history, is a great addition to the schedule, and the Truck Series is a great starting point for NASCAR to dip its toes into more northeast racing. If all goes well, you could see more races on the schedule at Lime Rock in the future. There’s no doubt that northeastern race fans will turn out in droves to support a motorsport-rich track as America’s top motorsport series makes its return.

“We are proud to bring the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series to historic Lime Rock Park for the first time,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Executive Vice President, Chief Venue and Racing Innovation Officer. “Thanks to Dicky Riegel and the Lime Rock Park team for their commitment to NASCAR to bring an event to our passionate race fans in the northeast. We look forward to showcasing the intense competition of the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series at one of the most historic road racing circuits next season.”
