What’s Happening?
Kurt Busch was arrested Tuesday Night in Iredell County, NC. The former NASCAR Cup Series Champion will appear in court on Sept. 19, facing reckless driving, DWI, and speeding charges.
- Via the Iredell Free Press, County Sheriffs pulled Busch over at 11:32 p.m. for speeding. Upon testing his blood-alcohol concentration, Busch’s BAC was two times the legal limit in North Carolina of .08, sitting at 0.17 percent. Busch has already apologized for the incident in a statement.
- In his 23 seasons in NASCAR, Busch won 34 Cups Series races, five Xfinity Series races, and three Truck Series races. He also won the 2004 NASCAR Cup Series Championship with Rousch Racing. Busch raced for seven teams, most recently for 23XI, before a career-ending injury at Pocono.
- Busch is now an Advisor for Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan’s team. During his retirement, he also worked with NASCAR on FOX. Busch is no stranger to controversy, including a 2005 incident that saw Busch charged with reckless driving in Arizona.
