Jimmie Johnson to Join NBC Broadcast Crew; Will Broadcast and Race on the SAME DAY

What’s Happening?

NBC announced on Tuesday that NASCAR Hall of Famer Jimmie Johnson will join the broadcast crew for 3 NASCAR races and the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500. This means Johnson will be on the broadcast crew at Indianapolis before flying down to Charlotte to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 that evening.

  • Aside from the Indy 500, Johnson will broadcast NASCAR races at Daytona (August 24th), Talladega (October 6th), and Phoenix (November 10th). Johnson is also slated to race in the Season Finale at Phoenix on November 10th. The Legacy Motor Club Press release said Johnson, “will contribute to NBC Sports’ coverage for select NASCAR races in which he is competing this year”.
  • Johnson will partially fill the void left by former teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr., who left NBC for Amazon and TNT earlier this year. NBC has not announced any other replacement for Earnhardt Jr. as of yet.
  • Fans are very excited to see Jimmie Johnson joining the NBC broadcast crew. Fans are excited to see what he has behind the mic.
