What’s Happening?
NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson has confirmed that he will race in the 2026 Daytona 500 with Legacy Motor Club in a new post on his Instagram account.

- The 49-year-old has confirmed his entry into the Daytona 500 in a roundabout way, with a paint scheme announcement. In this post, Johnson is painting what is presumed to be his new paint scheme for sponsor Carvana, which has sponsored him in all of his Daytona 500 entries as a part-time driver/owner.
- As of press time, this totals Johnson’s 2026 schedule to two races, with the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion set to race in the inaugural San Diego Street race at Naval Base Coronado in June as well. Last season, Johnson only entered two races, the Daytona 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in June.
- Johnson has raced part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series since 2023, the same season he joined the ownership group at Legacy Motor Club. Since that season, Johnson has made a total of 14 starts in LMC’s No. 84, three in 2023, nine in 2024, and two in 2025.
- In each of his three seasons as a part-time driver, Johnson has entered and qualified for the Daytona 500. In these three starts, the two-time Daytona 500 champion has an average finish of 20.7 and a best finish of third.
