What’s Happening?
OOTG host, Eric Estepp’s Groovy Hollow iRacing event to benefit Extra Life, a program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, is back for the fourth year in a row. And not only is Eric competing in this year’s event in the infamous Halloween Machine, this year we’re going bigger than ever with Groovy Hollow 4 being a multi-media event! Daily Downforce writer and horror author Cody Williams (that’s me!) has written a spooky sports novel all about The Legend of Groovy Hollow.
- Get caught up on all the history of the infamous Groovy Hollow Raceway in this novel about a father-daughter bond over racing. The book is a haunting tale of the supernatural and perseverance, sure to be popular with lovers of racing (especially at the grassroots level) and classic ghost stories.
- Cody Williams is already an established novelist. His other novels include 2022’s Bunny Boy, a dark and twisted tale of cosmic horror, and 2024’s The Fifth Line, billed as more of a supernatural mystery. He is also a writer for The Daily Downforce and his work has appeared in NASCAR Pole Position Magazine.
- The Legend of Groovy Hollow is available in 2 formats. The audiobook version, read by Jillian Kuhl, is available on your favorite podcast app. Meanwhile, the eBook is published through A-E Engine in association with Cody’s own True Terror Publications (TPP). The eBook is available exclusively on Amazon.com.
What’s It About?
All young Tommie Jo Swanson ever wanted to be was a racecar driver. A native of Commonwealth, a sleepy little town in Southwest Virginia, she always dreamed of running bad-fast cars on the NASCAR circuit. But every racing dreamer has to start somewhere. For her sixteenth birthday, her father purchased a late model stock from local racer, Jerry Slater, who had fallen on hard times. The goal was to one day race the car at the mysteriously found lost speedway of Groovy Hollow Raceway.
The infamous bullring of a short track, Groovy Hollow, inexplicably disappeared in the mid-1990s during a lightning storm. Also disappearing that night was the track champion and leader of that final race, the infamous legend of Groovy Hollow, Bucky Blackwell. But now the track has been rediscovered, deep in the twisting woods of Commonwealth, Virginia. Bucky has returned, too, with his dangerously fast (and reckless) Halloween Machine, and he is dead-set on reclaiming his throne.
Over the course of four years, Tommie finds herself entangled in a terrifying mystery surrounding Groovy Hollow and its infamous Halloween Machine. This novel is about the bond between daughter and father over the sport of auto racing and the various corruptions of the industry, some venturing into the realm of the supernatural.
