What’s Happening?

Live TV streaming provider YouTubeTV is in the midst of an ongoing dispute with FOX that could result in users missing out on NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series action in the coming days.

In a post on X, YouTubeTV stated that they are “actively negotiating to reach a fair deal for both sides, as well as our subscribers.” However, that deal has yet to come together, with YouTubeTV warning that “if we’re unable to reach an agreement by August 27, their content may become unavailable.”

The FOX network includes channels such as FOX News, FOX, and FOX Sports 1. Of course, this could affect NASCAR fans, as the final seven races of the Truck Series season are set to air on FS1, kicking off this Saturday at Darlington Raceway.

While this dispute may seem like business talk, in a statement to Front Office Sports, FOX said, “Google continually exploits its outsized influence by proposing terms that are out of step with the marketplace.” This statement also suggested that Google, owner of YouTubeTV, is not approaching the negotiations “in a meaningful pattern.”

YouTubeTV has a history of losing major networks temporarily, including Dec. 17, 2021, when the provider failed to come to terms with Disney, losing out on channels like ESPN and ABC. However, they eventually came to terms with a new deal.

While race fans could face missing the TV broadcast of the Truck Series race and future races, there are alternative options like the NASCAR Radio Network broadcast, which streams live in the NASCAR App.
