Have you ever wondered how your favorite driver gets paid? What about the team at large, from the highest of executives to all the way down to the everyman who sweeps the floors? One fan on Reddit took to the site to discuss just that, which unveiled some…useful, if not somewhat confusing, information. Check it out.
The original poster, AwkwardOtter7, begged the question of just how weekly earnings in NASCAR get dished out. A couple of fans came to answer, one seemingly finding some very big, if not confidential, findings. crypto6g stated that someone leaked the payout for Phoenix and also stated that the difference between 24th and 25th spots was around $80.
CaptainRon16 added in a reply that driver Bayley Currey touched on it briefly during his podcast, though he did wonder how he didn’t get in some sort of trouble.
anxiousauditor jokes that it’s probably distributed via direct deposit. Yeah, probably.
But then crypto6g came back with some answers. Their findings were for the 2022 Xfinity Series Championship race at Phoenix. They also stated that the Twitter account that tweeted the leak was taken down and the user might just be in some deep, deep trouble.
When you click on the link the commentor provided, this is what you’ll see. Let’s break it down.
For the fall Pheonix race, the total purse was $1,075,927. The first-place finisher was awarded $64,813, which makes up around 6% of the earnings. Second place received $53,144, which is just under 5% of the total monies handed out. Third place got $43,521 for about 4%, fourth received $37,550 for around 3.5%, and fifth received $34,660, which translates to 3.2%.
The last place finisher in 38th spot received $14,888, which is just over 1% of the earnings.
The total earnings for the Truck Series Championship Race at Phoenix was also shared in the link. The total purse for that race was $668,911, which commenter, CaptainRon16 finds embarrassing.
