The 2024 NASCAR schedule is going to be released sometime in the near future. However, it seems we are getting closer with some breaking news over the weekend. While we do not know everything about the 2024 schedule, here is everything we know so far.

1. The Clash Is Returning to the Coliseum

During an NFL game featuring two of California’s most prominent franchises, the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams, Fox announced that The Clash will return to the LA Coliseum on February 4th, the week before Super Bowl LVIII. This is not a surprise as The Clash at the Coliseum has been a generally successful event throughout its first two seasons.

Some people thought that the Clash could become a points-paying race with the loss of Auto Club Speedway in 2024. However, this announcement seems to put those rumors to bed. I guess it is technically possible that they keep the race track for a couple of extra weeks so that NASCAR could run a points race the week after the Daytona 500, but that is an incredibly remote possibility. The majority of the NASCAR fan base can breathe a sigh of relief today knowing that the LA Coliseum being a points race is, at worst, incredibly unlikely.

2. Bristol Dirt is No More

During the Bristol Night Race Weekend, Bristol Motor Speedway and NASCAR announced that the spring race at Bristol will be on concrete in 2024. Many not only wondered whether or not Bristol Dirt would return in 2024 but also wondered whether or not Bristol would get a spring date at all in 2024. Well, Bristol will get their spring date in 2024, but dirt Bristol is gone.

This does have some residual effects on other 2024 scheduled dates. Many wondered whether or not North Wilkesboro could become a points race in 2024, but Bristol’s spring date staying on the schedule takes away a potential spot for it. Another possibility is Bristol’s spring date being moved to later in the spring or even summer to help the dwindling crowd at previous concrete spring races at Bristol.

3. Phoenix Will be the Finale

The first date to be announced for the 2024 schedule came back in May when NASCAR announced that Phoenix Raceway would once again host the season finale. Fans groaned at this announcement with the Next-Gen car continually struggling at short tracks similar to Phoenix. However, it is not surprising to see NASCAR return to Phoenix for the Championship 4.

It is in a dry climate, meaning that rain is unlikely to affect the event, and fans continue to attend the event every year. It makes business sense for NASCAR to continue going back to Phoenix, especially considering that NASCAR’s pick of places to go in early November is not very big. It seems NASCAR is keeping the finale at Phoenix for a long time.

4. Road America is Not Returning

Road America told season ticket holders that NASCAR will not return in any capacity in 2024 according to David Kallmann of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal. However, the reasoning given was quite interesting. Kallman discussed the Olympics, scheduled for July 26-August 11, 2024 with NBC covering, as a reason for NASCAR not going back to the track in 2024.

As a result, the track may return in the near future, which would be popular amongst fans as Road America leaving the schedule is not exactly something fans love. If Road America is gone from the Xfinity Series schedule, it means that NASCAR is likely looking at a two-week break around the Olympics in 2024. It also gives the Milwaukee Mile a potential case for an Xfinity Series date in addition to the Craftsman Truck Series, which returned in 2023.

The 2024 schedule is slowly coming together piece by piece. When will the schedule finally be officially released?
