Daniel Dye Merchandise Pulled From Sale by Major Retailers

What’s Happening?

NASCAR fans are noticing that retailers are pulling merchandise from Kaulig Racing driver Daniel Dye following his recent suspension by the team and NASCAR.

Earlier this week, 22-year-old NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series veteran Daniel Dye went viral for comments made during a livestream on the popular platform Whatnot.

During this livestream, in which he was opening NASCAR trading cards, Dye used what he called a “David Malukas gay voice” when speaking for David Malukas while recounting an interaction with the IndyCar driver.

As a result, his violation of Section 4.3.C of the NASCAR rulebook resulted in an immediate indefinite suspension from both Kaulig Racing and NASCAR, with the driver required to complete sensitivity training in order to gain reinstatement.

While this is where the buck stops as far as direct penalties lobbied against Dye, it appears that other action is being taken following the now-infamous clip’s viral status.

Dye’s Diecast and Merch Pulled

Thursday morning, NASCAR diecast collectors noticed that the 1:24 and 1:64 scale versions of Dye’s No. 10 Mopar Ram 1500 were missing from the official Lionel Racing Store and popular distributors like Circle B Diecast.

Though this raised suspicions given Dye’s recent suspension, Lionel claimed in a Thursday morning email that pre-orders for Dye’s diecasts would not be produced, or DNP’d, as they did not reach minimum order quantities.

In June, Lionel announced that the minimum order quantity for a 1:64-scale diecast would decrease to 1,500, bringing fans hope that this lower number would lead to higher production.

This lower number, alongside the excitement surrounding Ram Truck’s return to NASCAR, made the cancellation of Dye’s diecast for order quantity purposes a bit of a surprise to some, as fans would likely want to have the complete set of 2025 Kaulig/Ram drivers.

Despite Lionel’s claims, there is further evidence pointing to this cancellation being related to Dye’s suspension, as fans are now noticing that shopkauligracing.com no longer features Dye or his merchandise on their website.

Though some have taken this to mean a broader punishment is underway, he is still listed as a driver on the official Kaulig Racing team website, and, in a recent interview, CEO Chris Rice called Dye and his father Randy Dye “family.”

As far as Dye’s return to NASCAR is concerned, NASCAR’s Managing Director for Racing Communications, Mike Forde, said during the latest episode of the Hauler Talk podcast that the time to complete sensitivity training varies driver to driver.

Even after NASCAR reinstates Dye, there is still the issue of the in-house suspension from Kaulig. For now, the team has tabbed Cup Series driver A.J. Allmendinger to drive the No. 10 this weekend at Darlington Raceway.
