What’s Happening?
NASCAR Silly Season is in full swing, and one driver to watch is Stewart-Haas Racing’s Xfinity Series driver Riley Herbst. However, Herbst has shown some promise in limited Cup Series starts in his career. Could we see Herbst full-time in the Cup Series in 2025?
- Riley Herbst has two major advantages, one of which is his large funding from Monster Energy. That, combined with his career-best overall performance in the Xfinity Series, makes his Cup Series resume intriguing.
- With the uncertainty surrounding Stewart-Haas Racing, plenty of potential seats are opening up. These could be good places for Herbst to land in the Cup Series.
- Fans are not all fond of Herbst. Some pass him off as a “Pay driver”, but, he’s shown some promise in his Xfinity Series career.

UPDATE: Michael McDowell Leaving Front Row, New Ride for 2025 CONFIRMED
What’s Happening? Michael McDowell made a surprising announcement on Wednesday, saying he will move on from Front Row Motorsports at…
Riley Herbst made two superspeedway starts for Front Row Motorsports in the No. 36 car last season. He qualified 6th for both races and finished a solid 9th at Talladega in the fall. Whether or not that’s enough to give him a full-time ride, he’s shown that he can get it done in the Cup Series.
However, this ride will receive a fair amount of interest from plenty of drivers. It’s a Ford Tier One team, which makes it an attractive landing spot for SHR drivers should the team dissolve. That makes it tough for Herbst to land in this seat.

Rumor Mill: Harrison Burton Unlikely To Return to The Wood Brothers in 2025
What’s Happening? Harrison Burton was on the hot seat heading into 2024, and it appears The Wood Brothers is set…
According to a recent report by Bob Pockrass, Harrison Burton seems on the outs at The Wood Brothers. This could open up the seat for someone like Riley Herbst, especially for someone with funding, as Burton likely takes Dex Imaging with him. This would keep Herbst firmly in the Ford camp.
However, like Front Row Motorsports, the number of potential Ford free agents makes this seat tough to nab. Anyone from SHR could end up in this seat, and Herbst may be pushed out.

Has Rick Ware Racing Improved in 2024?
What’s Happening? Rick Ware Racing was one of the most intriguing race teams of the offseason, signing Justin Haley as…
Rick Ware Racing is a wild card. They have an All-Star Car this season, seemingly making that a potential open Cup Series seat for 2024. Jordan Bianchi also reported that Justin Haley could move on from the team if a better opportunity comes along.
Either way, Herbst’s potential candidacy for this ride largely depends on what RWR decides to do with their current drivers. This is a seat where Herbst would have to be in “Wait and see” mode at best.
