What’s Happening?
In a surprise move, 10-time Cup Series race winner and current NASCAR on Fox color commentator Clint Bowyer will return to the driver’s seat in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Nashville. He will drive the number 7 truck fielded by Spire Motorsports, and Brian Pattie, his former Cup Series crew chief, Brian Pattie, will be atop the pit box.
- This will be Clint Bowyer’s first Truck Series start since 2016, and his first NASCAR start at any level since the 2020 Season Finale at Phoenix Raceway. He has one career win at Nashville, which came in the Xfinity Series in June of 2005 for Richard Childress Racing. Brain Pattie was Bowyer’s Cup Series crew chief from 2012 until 2015, and the pairing led Bowyer to his best Cup Series season in 2012 with three wins and a second-place points finish.
- Bowyer is the newest addition to the Spire Motorsports No. 7 truck this season. This “All-Star Truck” has featured the likes of Kyle Busch, Corey LaJoie, and Connor Zlisch behind the wheel. Busch took the Truck to its two wins at Atlanta and Texas.
- Fans are surprised but excited to see Clint Bowyer back behind the wheel. He hasn’t raced in NASCAR in four years, so, it’s fun to see him back in a firesuit again.
