What’s Happening?
YouTuber Garrett Mitchell, better known by his persona Cleetus McFarland, told Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the Dale Jr Download that he plans to race in the ARCA race at Talladega this spring. Mitchell made his stock car racing debut at Daytona this past weekend.
- During the interview, Earnhardt asked Mitchell about his future in racing, specifically if he was interested in racing at Talladega. Mitchell responded, “Yeah, I’m goin to Dega.” “We’re good for Dega—and we’re actually building some content around it on the YouTube channel that’ll that’ll cover it.”
- Mitchell did not elaborate further on what this content would be. However, he already used his Daytona weekend to create several videos and an in-car Livestream.
- His ARCA debut began with weather affecting the series’ pre-race on-track activity. This caused the field to be set by owners’ points, with Mitchell starting Saturday’s race from 27th. Unfortunately, Mitchell’s day ended early after he was collected in a lap 12 accident.
- Mitchell announced that he would race Rette Jones Racing’s No. 30 following his appearance in ARCA’s preseason practice at Daytona in January. As of press time, Mitchell has uploaded all three videos about ARCA to his YouTube channel, which has over 1.3 million views.
- The ARCA Race at Talladega will be on Apr. 26 at 12:30 PM ET, the race will be broadcast on FS1.
