What’s Happening?

Katherine Legge will be back in NASCAR for 12 more races in 2025, starting this weekend at the Rockingham Speedway. She will drive the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports in the Cup Series, and in the Xfinity Series, she will race the No. 32 for Jordan Anderson Racing.

Xfinity Series Schedule:
  • April 19th: Rockingham Speedway
  • April 26th: Talladega Superspeedway
  • May 3rd: Texas Motor Speedway
  • May 24th: Charlotte Motor Speedway
  • May 31st: Nashville Superspeedway
  • June 27th: Atlanta Motor Speedway
  • July 26th: Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Cup Series Schedule
  • June 15th: Mexico City
  • July 6th: Chicago Street Course
  • July 13th: Sonoma Raceway
  • August 10th: Watkins Glen
  • August 17th: Richmond Raceway

Katherine had one Cup Series start at Phoenix earlier this year when she became the first woman to compete at the top level of stock car racing in America since Danica Patrick in the 2018 Daytona 500, the 17th woman to do so in history. She also has five Xfinity Series races on her resume, four of which were in 2018 and one in 2023.

Katherine mentioned being aware of the negative comments following her debut at Phoenix but indicated that she intends to get it back, though she acknowledges that she made a mistake during that race. The incident sparked heated conversations online about NASCAR’s approval process for drivers.

The Mistake in question

“I know it [Phoenix] wasn’t my best work. I made a mistake, right? I made a lot of mistakes during the race and tried to minimize them. … then there was the one mistake that obviously ended Daniel’s race and cost me my reputation, which I intend to get back. But it was a mistake. You see these guys making mistakes even when they’ve been doing it for decades. So, to be vilified for one mistake, I feel like was really unfair. I am a damn good race car driver, and I will come back and prove that was just a blip on the radar.” – Katherine Legge

She made it clear that Richmond may not be her last race in NASCAR as she seeks to be approved for all types of tracks and events.

“This is what we need in order to get NASCAR”s permission to be able to run anywhere and whenever I want, which is the goal… I want to do everything that I can to A: experience all the things and B: to be the best driver that I can be and leave a legacy, and open the door for the next generation.” – Katherine Legge
