What’s Happening?
Drama is continuing to simmer at Stewart-Haas Racing. Amid recent reports about SHR potentially selling all four charters and uncertainty from drivers, Chase Briscoe responded to a Reddit thread asking if SHR drivers check it for updates. He responded by saying, “Multiple times a day boldly and unapologetically”, and here is why Briscoe is so uncertain about his future.
- Stewart-Haas Racing has been teeming with rumors about their future. They’ve reportedly been in the market to sell charters, with multiple recent reports suggesting all 4 could be up for sale.
- Rumors continued to swirl this weekend when multiple SHR drivers expressed doubt over their future. No one truly feels safe in their seat at SHR.
- Fans are listening quite closely to the SHR rumors. Everyone wants to know what is happening, and the future of SHR looks quite bleak right now.
What Drivers Had to Say
Speculation amongst the drivers started as early as last week. Chase Briscoe joined Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, and he expressed doubt that SHR would still be around in 2024. He said he could stay at SHR, “If SHR is still around”, later reiterating that he doesn’t know what will happen to SHR.
This uncertainty ramped up over the weekend. Bob Pockrass spoke to two more SHR drivers, Noah Gragson and Josh Berry. Pockrass asked Berry directly if he felt he was racing for his job, and Berry responded, “I definitely feel like that’s the case.”

Gragson also hinted at his future after winning the Fan Vote for the All-Star Race. He told Pockrass that he could use the fan vote as “Leverage” for the future.

Ryan Preece has also seemingly become the odd man out at Stewart-Haas Racing. Preece mentioned on social media in the week leading up to the Kansas race that he was left out of an SHR study group. Eric Estepp dove into that incident in the video below.
All that to say, each SHR driver is either on the outs with the current team or does not have much insight into their future at the moment. The potential plans for SHR are beginning to leak out to the press.
The Most Recent Reports
Adam Stern recently dove into the SHR charter sale in Sports Business Journal. In it, he suggested that SHR’s charters could sell for $20-30 million per charter, which would be at most a 50% decrease from the most recent charter sale, Live Fast Motorsports to Spire Motorsports for $40 million. Stern also said both that a charter sale could happen within “Weeks”, and that current SHR drivers are testing the waters to see what is out there for 2025.
NASCAR charter prices have climbed upward in recent years, but that march could be halted – at least temporarily – if @StewartHaasRcng unloads several of them over the coming months as expected, per sources.

Stern and Bob Pockrass report that the same teams, Trackhouse, 23XI, and Front Row, are in the running for these charters. Pockrass further reports that Front Row could lease shop space from SHR to accommodate a third full-time car.
We had sources tell us that SHR was rumored to sell two charters to Front Row and two to Trackhouse, while SHR would keep their Xfinity Series program. Pockrass also reported that SHR could keep the Xfinity program.
No one seems to know what is going on with SHR right now, not even the drivers. If the team’s top driver is going to Reddit to figure out what his future could be, then who knows what might happen?
