Spire Motosports’ Carson Hocevar gave his thoughts on getting spun by Josh Berry during this past Sunday’s race at Sonoma Raceway.
Carson Hocevar said on Twitch tonight that he doesn't know why Josh Berry spun him out. "I didn't do anything. I was just like 'Man, of all people to wreck me.' I thought it would be somebody like I had it coming. I don't know what I did. It's just like, 'well shit.'"

Sunday, while Shane van Gisbergen paced the field at Sonoma Raceway, several storylines emerged from the rest of the field.
Josh Berry’s spinning of Carson Hocevar was caught in the shuffle of stories such as Alex Bowman and Ty Dillon’s battle to advance in the in-season tournament and Joe Gibbs Racing and RFK Racing’s pit road spat.
With three to go, and entering turn two, Berry, who was running ninth, drove into the right rear quarter panel of Hocevar, who was running seventh. Berry would go on to finish 13th, while Hocevar would fall all the way back to 32nd, ending a promising rebound.
Though nothing came of the matter post race, during a recent live stream, Hocevar reflected on the run-in, saying, “I was just like, ‘man, of all people like to wreck me.’ I thought it would be somebody like I had it coming… You know, it’s just like, well shit.”
This isn’t the 22-year-old’s first encounter with other drivers this season. But, as he said during this live stream, “I’ve been giving some; I get some.”
This light-hearted reaction to the contact with Berry was still flanked by disappointment for Hocevar’s run gone sour this past Sunday. His 32nd-place finish marked the reigning Rookie of the Year’s third sub-30th finish on a road course this season and his second sub-30th finish in a row.
As Hocevar explained, “We had like the biggest shit show stage one and stage two, and it’s just like, ‘oh, by the way, we finished eight,'” Hocevar said. “And then it’s just like ‘Oh never mind, you still finished 32nd, get fuck loser.'”
