What’s Happening?

Pre-orders for Carson Hocevar’s Talladega race-winning diecast set new records for a race-winning diecast just hours after his win.

After Carson Hocevar’s win at Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR fans and diecast collectors were all wondering just how many diecast Lionel Racing would sell of the car.

Right off the bat, it was clear that the No. 77 “Intimedente” car would be a hot item, with Lionel’s social media reporting that their site was experiencing delays from the influx of purchasers and that all ten versions in both 1:24 and 1:64 scale meet the minimum order quantity in record time.

Still, fans wanted to know if the Michigan native had broken any actual records, and Tuesday afternoon, they finally got answers.

Per Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, sources say Hocevar’s diecast beat out all other race-winning diecast sales since 2010.

Furthermore, Stern noted that since his win, Hocevar has been top five in at-track sales and, on his personal merch site, Hocevar pulled in “nearly $500,000 in sales over the first month after Talladega.”

The High Price for “Hoce-Merch”

This should come as no surprise, as before the Talladega win, fans in the collectors community had noticed wild prices for almost anything related to the 23-year-old.

For one, Hocevar’s previous diecast releases, particularly those sponsored by Chili’s, had become a hot commodity on the resale market in recent months, with fans clamoring to get their hands on them from dealers and on sites like eBay.

In one viral instance, an unsigned 1:24-scale RCCA Elite diecast of Carson Hocevar’s 2025 Chili’s car sold for $1,076.03 after bidding started at $727.77.
