What’s Happening?

Following his win at Talladega Superspeedway, pre-orders for diecasts of Carson Hocevar’s race-winning No. 77 overwhelmed the Lionel Racing website, leading to now-resolved issues for customers.

Carson Hocevar is one of NASCAR’s most popular drivers, and that has shown with his merchandise as of late.

Fans in online communities have recently shared the wild resale price tags attached to hats, shirts, and specifically diecast of the Spire Motorsports driver.

When Hocevar won his first NASCAR Cup Series race this past Sunday, fans immediately prophesied that the diecast would be one of the best-selling of 2026.

However, no one could have predicted just how excited fans and collectors would be.

Lionel Racing posted the pre-order link on X at 7:35 PM ET, and, as of 1:00 PM ET Monday, the car has already met the minimum order quantity in all ten of its versions.

Better yet, barely 20 minutes later, at 7:54 PM ET, Lionel announced the number of users looking to pre-order Hocevar diecasts had overwhelmed their site, with many fans complaining of long wait times and order errors.

While the issue was resolved shortly, the car is very likely headed to the stratosphere of popularity that some Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Larson diecasts have reached in recent seasons.

Lionel typically releases their best sellers list at year’s end, and this year, Hocevar might have a chance to crack the top-five or even displace Dale Jr (as a car owner or driver) from his top spot.
