Two of the most important factors in determining a track’s success are its ratings and attendance. Well, today, Brake Hard is here to break down the Brickyard 400’s ratings and attendance.

  • The Brickyard 400 ratings are up substantially from last year’s Indy road course race, even though the beginning and end of the race were moved to cable. Do you think these ratings were good enough to see the Brickyard 400 return to the schedule?
  • Even though there may be many empty seats for the Brickyard 400, and looking at it on TV, the stands sometimes look completely empty, this year‘s Brickyard 400 has sold double the amount of tickets than some of the biggest events in the sport. Why do you think the stands look so bad for NASCAR races?
  • One problem that NASCAR has at Indianapolis Speedway is its attendance capacity. Considering that the Brickyard 400 does not sell as much as the Indy 500, there are always going to be a lot of empty seats even if 100,000 people show up. What can Indianapolis do to make the stands look more full on NASCAR race days?

Were you surprised by the rating success of the Brickyard 400? Do you think this race will do just as good next year? Let Brake Hard know all of your thoughts and questions in the comment section.
