What’s Happening?
With Cody Ware taking over driving duties of Rick Ware Racing’s No. 51, Corey LaJoie is officially a free agent. With Daytona a little more than a month away, the veteran’s options for the 2025 season are slimming. So, accounting for rumors and open rides, what options does the veteran have for 2025?
- Following the Bristol Night race, Corey LaJoie switched seats with Justin Haley. Haley took over and will drive the No. 7 this season, while LaJoie took over Haley’s No. 51 for the remainder of the season.
- As this swap happened late in the season, LaJoie would race in just seven races for RWR. With RWR, Lajoie’s average finish was 26.6, a fall from, a fall from 23.0 in his 29 races with Spire Motorsports.
- While RWR initially said nothing was for sure, insiders believed LaJoie would return to No. 51 for 2025. However, this was not the case, as RWR opted for Cody Ware.
- As late as it is in the off-season, it is unlikely LaJoie will find a full-time seat.

Truck Series Options
While LaJoie faces uncertainty for 2025, there are plenty of options for him to find a part-time ride in the Truck Seris. For example, take Matt DiBenedetto, who, following his abrupt exit from the Cup Series, found his footing at the Truck Series level and now has a full-time Xfinity Series ride.
Right now, fans online suggest that a Ford team, such as Thorsport, should take on LaJoie at least part-time. While Thorsport has not announced its 2025 lineup, many fans have also noticed that the team’s website no longer lists 2024 part-time driver Conner Jones as the driver of the No. 66. Unfortunately, these loose connections are the only ones connecting the driver and the car.
Aside from the longshot at Thorsport, another Ford team, Reaume Brothers Racing, recently announced they were entering a full-time open truck for the 2025 season. Perhaps LaJoie could find a part-time spot with RBR.

Xfinity Series Options
While most are focused on LaJoie’s potential opportunities in the Truck Series, with the level of sponsorship he has had in the past, there could lie part-time or even full-time opportunities in the Xfinity Series.
A flurry of silly season dominoes fell when Parker Retzlaff and Jordan Anderson Racing parted ways in November. While Retzlaff is headed to Alpha Prime Racing, a former Ford Driver for RSS Racing, Blaine Perkins, took over JAR’s No. 31.
This leaves the No. 29, a very notable full-time Ford ride from 2024, open for 2025. While LaJoie is not the ideal candidate to replace the young Perkins, he would be a solid fit at RSS, a team that has consistently punched above their weight class.

What About Non-Ford Part-Time Options
The lack of Ford teams in the NASCAR Xfinity seems to be a limiting factor when reviewing LaJoie’s potential suitors. However, there is nothing that says a look at open teams has to be from Ford; that is just the team LaJoie ended the 2024 season with.
Many competitive teams at the level will take on a well-sponsored driver on a part-time basis. LaJoie has a history of loyal sponsors such as Schluter Systems.
There are notable teams, such as DMG Racing, JR Motorsports, and Joe Gibbs Racing, who are entering part-time cars in the 2025 Xfinity Series season. If LaJoie is all right with a partial schedule and maintains his solid sponsorship history, an option could lie with these teams.

Rumor: Amazon Prime Video
While these listed options are observations, prominent rumors about Lajoie’s 2025 plans have been circulating since the news about RWR. One of these rumors suggests that LaJoie could land in the broadcast booth.
Last week, a prominent NASCAR rumor mill account on Instagram, nascarrumornostalgia, claimed that LaJoie could work as “some sort of analyst” for Amazon Prime Video’s NASCAR Cup Series Coverage.
As one of NASCAR’s new broadcast partners for 2025, Prime Video will broadcast five exclusive NASCAR Cup Series races in 2025. Furthermore, Prime Video will also provide practice and qualifying coverage for the first half of the season.
Prime Video has already revealed its booth, but that does not mean there isn’t room for LaJoie, even if that is just for practice and qualifying coverage. When Lajoie’s silly season began in July, most fans suggested the driver move his talents to the Media side of NASCAR in 2025, this rumor suggests that could be the case.

Rumor: Part-time at RWR
LaJoie working with Prime Video was not the only part of that rumor, as it claimed LaJoie would have part-time rides throughout the season.
Most expected this entering the season, as nothing was for sure about LaJoies future. However, most ruled a part-time Cup Series schedule unlikely; however, insiders, such as Bob Pockrass, have LaJoie listed as a potential entry in the Daytona 500.
Several teams have part-time rides, such as Garage 66, formerly known as MBM Motorsports, which is missing a driver for Daytona following NASCAR’s ruling on Mike Wallace. However, he could have part-time starts with RWR.
RWR will be a one-charter team in 2025, having leased the No. 15 car’s charter to RFK Racing. Yet, they are entering the No. 15 as a part-time car in the season-opening Clash. Furthermore, in September, team President Robby Benton claimed the team would have two cars at Daytona; perhaps the second of these is LaJoie.
