Andy Petree went on NASCAR Race Hub this week to clear the air surrounding the Richard Childress Racing controversy from last weekend at Martinsville. Petree admitted that he should not have opened his mouth to Sheldon Creed on pit road following the race like he did. The fans on Reddit gave their own opinions on this admission by Petree.
Some fans were okay with what Petree had to say, but they were wondering why Richard Childress did not have anything to say. Childress called Creed the “Stupidest” driver that has ever raced for him. vinyl272 thought that Childress should be apologizing as well.
It’s possible that there was something said to Creed behind closed doors by Childress. Petree admitted himself that he talked to Creed in the shop behind closed doors. Petree found out what really caused the brake check, and that changed his opinion. However, other fans spent their time saying many other things about RCR as a whole.
Many Reddit users accused RCR of being a toxic environment as a result of this move. Some fans even questioned if this would affect whether or not drivers or team members could choose to work at RCR. PackDaddy21222 emphasized this.
MaverickII called RCR the most toxic company he has ever seen. That may be an extreme claim given the success they have had in the past, but, it is not the first time that RCR has had an ugly driver exit. Sheldon Creed just happens to be the next driver to have an ugly exit.
bullitt07 posed the rhetorical question, who would want to work at RCR? This incident may push some drivers and team members away because of how it shook out. Ultimately time will tell depending on how prospective drivers and employees react to openings at RCR, but, some may just chalk this up to passionate drivers and team owners racing for a Championship.

Other fans chalked this move up to Andy Petree just trying to clean up a PR mess. Some fans claimed to see right through this admission and apology, and they felt that the damage had already been done. Patmal_8 emphasized with a good old clown emoji.
SBMVPJustinHerbert said that the incident at Martinsville showed how Petree really feels about Creed. Whenever a driver leaves an organization, there are possibly going to be some hurt feelings. Sometimes those come out in moments like this, but we do now know everything that happens behind closed doors.

The ironically named ADillonsCreepyStache believes that Petree is just trying to fix the narrative, in some colorful language. However, the damage is already done.
Petree admitted that RCR was far from professional in how they handled this situation on Saturday night. Fans on Reddit tended to agree with that sentiment. Cockandballcouture said that this type of comment should not have come from the mouth of Richard Childress or Andy Petree.
ForksUpSun_Devils said that Petree should have been more professional. However, this user believes that RCR tends to not take these drivers leaving well. As a result, he feels that is what clouded the judgment in the moment.
DollarsAndDreams even called the actions unprofessional. However, he did not believe the apology from Petree was sincere at all.
Fans certainly had their own opinions on Andy Petree’s admission on NASCAR Race Hub. This probably will not fix everything at RCR, and public opinion of the organization is not great following the incident.
