Trevor Bayne is working his way back into full-time racing, and he has plenty of potential places he can go in 2024. What options does Trevor Bayne have to go to if he wants to race full-time in 2024?
Trevor Bayne has run part-time with JGR in the Xfinity Series, so it is hard to keep him out of the running for this seat for 2024. While he has not been as spectacular in his limited races in 2023, he was great in 2022 with 7 top-10s, 5 top-5s, and 2 poles in 9 races. What Bayne has also done better than Ryan Truex is find sponsorship for his rides, at least to some extent.
He was left out in the cold by a sponsor heading into 2023, but he found sponsorship from Dollar Concrete and Devotion Nutrition for 2022. If he can work to find the funding, at least one JGR seat in the Xfinity Series could be his.
In the Truck Series, Bayne has found an opportunity at Homestead-Miami this weekend to drive for Rackley W.A.R. Could this mean more than just a one-off start for Bayne? It all depends on what Rackley W.A.R. wants in that car.
How much funding will they require, and would they prefer a young prospect or a veteran? Bayne is a veteran driver, and if he brings enough funding, he may find a way to land in this seat. Rackley W.A.R. is a Truck that has won a race and made the Playoffs, so it could be a great landing spot for Bayne.
With Sheldon Creed gone, RCR has an open seat for 2024. With their Cup Series lineup set for the foreseeable future with Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch, they may not be against hiring a veteran driver. Trevor Bayne is a veteran driver, and he can compete in good equipment.
RCR also brings at least some funding to the table with Whelen behind them. That means that the financial barrier is not as high at RCR as it is at other race teams. Could this be the spot for Bayne to get back into the Xfinity Series full-time?
With his relationship with Toyota, Trevor Bayne’s other option in Xfinity to stay with the same manufacturer is Sam Hunt Racing. SHR is an up-and-coming team, but they are not at the same level as JGR. That could keep Bayne from pursuing this ride along with the funding it may take.
On top of that, Bayne is going to drive for Chevrolet in the Truck Series at Homestead, so how closely is he really tied to Toyota? These are all things to consider, but it could be an intriguing landing spot for Bayne.
The other most prominent Truck Series ride available for Bayne is ThorSport. This would mean a move back to his original NASCAR manufacturer. Bayne drove for Ford during his early NASCAR career, and he had success with them.
That combined with ThorSport being a Championship-level organization means this could be an attractive stop for Bayne. Again, how much manufacturer loyalty he has is a mystery, and Ford may want a young up-and-comer to take this seat and replace a depleted driver development system.
