What’s Happening?
Kansas Speedway never disappoints in giving NASCAR fans exciting and thrilling finishes. The 2025 running of the Hollywood Casino 400 was no different. In a series of late-race cautions that triggered two overtime restarts, Chase Elliott slipped past the Toyotas as they proceeded to beat themselves. One of the cautions at the end of the race involved a particularly scary impact for the driver of the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford, Zane Smith. What set this wreck into motion was John Hunter Nemechek washing up the track and making contact with Smith. Then, strangely, Zane Smith’s right-side tires made contact with the wall and traveled up the fence, resulting in a bizarre incident where the No. 38 ended up on its door riding the fence. Check out this crazy incident in the video below, provided by NASCAR on NBC.

After the incident, Smith then barrel rolled down the banking before landing right side up. He was thankfully checked and released from the in-field care center. Smith had been having a solid day all race long. He finished 9th in the opening stage and was running between there and 15th for much of this race. Unfortunately, because of this incident, he is credited with a 31st place finish.
